Ivan is based in our Varna office and with dual technical and legal qualifications is both a surveyor and claims handler. He holds a law degree from the University of Varna and joined us in 1998 with six years of prior experience in the claims department of state-owned shipping company Navibulgar, which then had a fleet of over 100 ships. He also has sea experience, having graduated from the Naval Academy and commenced his career as a navy officer.
Ivan handles the full spectrum of correspondency issues and has been involved in a number of local casualty cases. His areas of specialty include cargo damage and shortage claims leading to arrest and crew claims.
In addition to English and his native Bulgarian, Ivan speaks French, Russian and Greek.
